 Small IT project to allow UCSF Profiles to display faculty Senate service, utilizing the Senate Service Portal (SSP). CoC will contract with George Michael, the Senate’s programmer, at a proposed cost of $3,500 for this project. The Setup Application Program Interface (API) in Senate Service Portal that will provide a secure connection for UCSF Profiles to access current, future and archive data for all committee membership records.

Small IT project to allow the Senate Service Portal (SSP) to collect data on UCSF faculty appointments to local, systemwide, and Sacramento-based ad-hoc committees, task forces, and working groups. SSP does collect data on faculty appointments to local and systemwide standing committees, but currently does not collect data on such ad-hoc appointments. As a result, CoC cannot view a faculty member’s complete Senate service history.

 

IT project to make updates to the Course Review System and the Bloom’s Taxonomy link on the Courses website.

 

Request for the following upgrades to the online Courses System:
1) Develop a new, redesigned Course Unit Calculator
2) revise the Course Review Help Manual;
3) update and extend the Course Review Application Program Interface (API) to all four Schools;
4) develop a new user Login Validation for the online UCSF Course Review system.

This proposal requests $20,000/year to accomplish two important improvements to the existing program. It seeks to expand program access by serving more faculty when they need care, and to deliver greater value by eliminating the cumbersome annual enrollment fee that UCSF has required.

Dependent care for faculty traveling to conferences. All schools eligible except for SOM, faculty from that school must apply through SOM Dependent Care (SOM Dean's Office)

 

Awards up to $3,000 faculty grants to support non-academic activities, service, or items that enhance work-life and/or well-being at work for UCSF faculty members

Continues UCSF's support of Open Science, through expanding the training capacity provided through the Library's Data Science Initiative (DSI). This will enable DSI to build a more advanced data science curriculum and to pilot hybrid online learning models that will make computational training opportunities more flexible and accessible, especially with faculty.

Grants are used to support faculty travel to present research findings at meetings of learned societies, conferences, and continuing education courses.

Hosting 3-4 workshops focusing on gender equity/inclusive language. Partnering with consultant at UC Berkeley.

  

Year 2 of pilot to support/encourage faculty volunteering in community. Senate Office has received a lot of inquiries since the Chancellor's State of the University address; at the end of that address, he mentions a staff volunteering endeavor. On the website for that, it also encourages faculty volunteering and directs people to the Senate's CF site listing the opportunity.
