How To Apply

UCSF Faculty in any series (Clinical X, In Residence, Ladder Rank, Adjunct, and Health Sciences Clinical) are eligible to apply.

  • Faculty must be at least 50% time and cannot be WOS.
  • Specialists and Professional Research Series are not eligible
Step 1. Select a Chancellor's Fund to apply for:
  1. Faculty Learning and Development – Academic Planning & Budget; SOD, SOM, and SON School Faculty Councils.

  2. Faculty Enrichment/Needs (varies by faculty) including educational training, PR consultant hiring, software purchases, supplementing travel grants  – Faculty Welfare Committee.
  3. Educational Technology Needs for Faculty – Educational Policy Committee.
  4. Travel Grants (3 categories):
    • Educational Curriculum - Committee on Educational Policy.
    • Research - Committee on Research.
    • Sustainability - Committee on Sustainability
Step 2. Review the Submission Rules provided with each application. For additional questions, contact the Academic Senate analyst (located at the bottom of the application page) for the fund you're applying for.
Step 3. Click here for access to the online application in Senate Service Portal.
Step 4. Last Day to Submit an Application: Varies by award (between March 1-March 15, 2016.) Submit your application early, some applications will be approved on a rolling basis. Funding deadlines for each application are different and specified on the application.
Step 5. Notification of Deny or Approval for your application will be sent by email.

In fall 2015, the UCSF Academic Senate Committees and Councils determined their funding decisions based on the below process. The final financial breakdown was determined by the Coordinating Committee – which is comprised of Chairs of all the Standing Committees and Councils.
