2021-2022 Academic Senate Distinguished Faculty Awards

The UCSF Academic Senate is happy to announce the faculty selected by peers as the 2022 Distinction in Teaching and Distinction in Mentoring Award winners. An event to recognize their efforts will be held in Cole Hall at Parnassus Campus and Zoom on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, 3:00 - 5:00 pm.

The Spring 2022 recipient of the Academic Senate Distinction in Teaching Award for faculty at UCSF five years or fewer is Stephanie Hsia, PharmD, MAEd, Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy, School of Pharmacy. Dr. Hsia is based at Parnassus Campus and is Course Director of the Neuroscience and Therapeutics Integrated Theme in the School of Pharmacy Curriculum. She also currently serves as the Divine Family Endowed Chair for her project focused on health equity professional development for pharmacy learners and pharmacists.

The Spring 2022 Academic Senate Distinction in Teaching Award for faculty at UCSF more than five years goes to Marieke Kruidering, PhD, Professor of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology, School of Medicine. Dr. Kruidering is based at UCSF Parnassus campus and dedicates herself to teaching pharmacology in the schools of medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry. She is Course Director of the Ground School Block and Pillar Program in the School of Medicine Bridges Curriculum.

The Spring 2022 recipient of the Academic Senate Distinction In Mentoring Award for faculty at the rank of Associate Professor is Starr Knight, MD, Associate Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine, School of Medicine. Dr. Knight is based at San Francisco General Hospital, where she is the Director of Faculty Experience. She is also the Director of Diversity and Inclusion for the Department of Emergency Medicine.

The Spring 2022 recipient of the Academic Senate Distinction In Mentoring Award for faculty at the rank of Full Professor is Marilyn Stebbins, PharmD, Professor of Clinical Pharmacy, School of Pharmacy. Dr. Stebbins is based at UCSF Parnassus campus and serves as the Vice Chair of Clinical Innovation for the Department of Clinical Pharmacy.
 
To select each year’s awards, the Academic Senate Committee on Academic Personnel designates selection committees comprised of faculty and student representatives from all four schools. Student representatives are recommended by the Associate Deans in Student Affairs from each of the respective Schools. Faculty representatives are recommended by the Associate Deans of Academic Affairs from each School.
