The Academic Senate is pleased to announce this year’s recipients of the Distinction In Teaching and the Distinction In Mentoring Awards.
Recipients of the Academic Senate Distinction In Teaching Awards and the Distinction In Mentoring Awards will be honored at the Academic Senate Distinguished Faculty Awards Ceremony to be held Thursday, June 2nd,2016 at 3:30 p.m. in the Lange Room at the UCSF Library on the Parnassus campus.
To select each year’s recipients the Academic Senate Committee on Academic Personnel designates a selection committee comprised of faculty and student representatives from all four schools. Student representatives are assigned by Associate Deans from each of the respective Schools.
Distinction in Teaching
Category 1 (UCSF Faculty Less Than 5 Years): The 2016 recipient of the Academic Senate Distinction In Teaching Award for faculty less than 5 years is Jennifer Babik, MD, PhD, Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor, Division of Infectious Diseases.
Category 2 (UCSF Faculty More Than 5 Years): The 2016 recipient of the Academic Senate Distinction In Teaching Award for faculty more than 5 years is Janet Shim, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
Distinction in Mentoring
Category 1 (Faculty at the Assistant or Associate rank): The 2016 recipient of the Academic Senate Distinction In Mentoring Award for faculty at the Associate rank is Sheri Weiser, MD, MA, MPH, Associate Professor In Residence, Division of HIV, ID and Global Medicine
Category 2 (Faculty at the rank of full Professor): The 2016 recipient of the Academic Senate Distinction In Mentoring Award for faculty at the rank of full Professor is Susan Kegeles, PhD, Professor, Co-Director, Center for AIDS Prevention Studies, Division of Prevention Sciences.

The Distinction In Mentoring Award Selection Committee is appointed by the Associate Deans in the respective Schools, and is Chaired by a member of the Committee on Academic Personnel.
