This edition of the Faculty Handbook for Success, Advancement, and Promotion at UCSF features addresses to UC, UCSF, and external Web sites which provide additional information or access to referenced documents. As is often the case with online content, URLs may change from time to time. If you come across an inactive link, please report it to kate.dargan@ucsf.edu. Please provide as much information as possible about the problem that you encountered, so that our content managers can find it and make corrections.
Downloading and Saving PDFs:
PDFs can be saved to your computer (hard drive) for future use without accessing our website. In order to save a PDF to your computer, open the PDF in your web browser. Different browsers use similar commands to save the PDF; "Save Target As" or "Save As" (Internet Explorer), "Save Page As" (Firefox), "Save As" (Safari) or “Save Link As” (Netscape). "Save As" is usually found under the "File" menu on all browsers. You can then save the PDF to a computer directory or folder of your choice. If Adobe Acrobat software is installed in your web browser, you can save the form by selecting the small disk icon that appears in the upper left hand corner of the Adobe Acrobat frame within your browser.
To open a PDF saved to your computer, either open Acrobat Reader then choose File-Open on the menu and browse to the file you wish to open
or find the file you wish to open and double-click on it with your (left) mouse button.
