COMMITTEE ON COURSES OF INSTRUCTION
1999-2000 ANNUAL REPORT

The Committee held four meetings during the 1999-2000 academic year. Three of the four meetings were conducted to review and approve individual course forms, and one meeting was held to adjudicate Instructional Grant applications.
The Committee recommended the formal and final approval of new courses; suggested desirable modifications in courses already approved; and endorsed special prerequisites of major withdrawal or retention of courses, the credit valuation of courses, and the classification of courses.

Instructional Grants Program
The Library, assuming dual-responsibility with the Committee adjudicates the campus Instructional Improvement Grant Program. This combined approach successfully streamlines the application and review process for both the faculty and the review committee. Combining the process allows for optimal distribution of instructional improvement resources. This year the Committee reviewed 24 applications and awarded 12 requests for a total of $89,396. See Appendix A for results.
Course Form and General Course Catalog
At the November meeting, the Registrar’s office gave a presentation on its design for a user-friendly, on-line course form and general course catalog. Members returned to their respective departmental educational and curriculum committees for suggestions on refining the current course format, with a reminder to delete courses that are no longer offered.
